Save our School: Monroe Elementary - Redistricing Meetings Announced Minimize

 

During the most recent Board of School Directors meeting, school board members heard a presentation by Brad Furey Consulting regarding the findings of a Demographics and Enrollment Study that was recently completed. A Redistricting Committee of the Board has been formed to further review the study, to discuss options regarding redistricting, and to discuss what option, if any, they would recommend to the full Board for consideration. The Redistricting Committee consists of Dr. Stephen Verber, chair; John Dwyer; and Thomas Griffie.
Two Redistricting Committee meetings have been scheduled (please note that the meeting dates are based on availability of the full committee). These meetings are open to the public:
  • January 20, 2012 - 7 p.m. - Eagle View Middle School cafeteria
  • February 2, 2012 - 7 p.m. - Eagle View Middle School cafeteria

Proposed Updates for 2012 Minimize

On November 10, 2011 the Board of Supervisors announced the rate increases for the sewer districts.  

         Northern District will be increased from $220.00 per quarter, to $235.00, a $15.00 increase.

         Southern District will be increased from $245.00 per quarter, to $270.00, a $25.00 increase.

 

The Supervisors also increased the Real Estate tax from .169 Mills to .221 Mills.

Penn Waste - Trash Service Minimize

Property owners inquiring for suspension of trash collection services due to a dwelling unit being vacant must provide Penn Waste with a written notice at least two weeks prior to the effective date of the requested suspension.  Suspension of servcie can not be for a period of less than sixty days.

Rural Housing Repair Program Minimize

This program is to provide qualified, very low-income homeowner in eligible rural areas, low interest loans to bring their homes up to certain minimum standards.  Loan funds are available for repairs to improve or modernize a home, make it safer or more sanitary,or remove health and safetly hazards.

Authorized loan and grant purposes include, but are not limited to: insulate, provide storm windows, purchase or repair heating systems, repair roofs, repair siding, repair or supply structrual supports, provide a convenient and sanitary water supply, provide bathroom facilities, pay expenses such as fees for legal and other technical services and reasonable connection fees for water, sewer, electricity or gas.
